Several anti-ICE demonstrations are taking place in Southern California on Saturday, following the nationwide National Day of Action to Get ICE Out of Everywhere, which was held on Friday.
Organizers of 50501 SoCal said: “Ordinary Americans are uniting to demand the immediate and permanent removal of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Border Protection (CBP) from communities in more than 300 events nationwide.”

The crowd of protesters in Torrance steadily grew to about 2,500 by 1 p.m. The protesters lined the sidewalks in front of the Del Amo shopping center to participate in the “Ice Out” protest in the South Bay, organized by Indivisible South Bay Los Angeles.
The chants of the protesters were accompanied by a constant barrage of car horns, as hundreds of drivers honked their horns in support as they drove by. The crowds along Hawthorne Street erupted in song, singing along to the refrain of Twisted Sister’s “We Won’t Give Up.”

Many protesters in Torrance cited the deaths of Alex Peretti and Renee Goode at the hands of federal immigration officers in Minneapolis as the reason for taking to the streets.
Protesters of all ages carried signs with slogans such as “Healthcare, not war,” “Ashamed to be an American,” and “I want to crush ICE.”

Other anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement demonstrations on Saturday included protests in downtown Los Angeles, Compton, Corona, El Segundo, Culver City, and Aliso Viejo.
